Shri Shivaram Rajguru was born on 24th August 1908, at Khed into a Deshastha Brahmin family. His full name was Hari Shivaram Rajguru. He had witnessed the British oppression on India and its people.

This introduced a strong urge within him to join the revolutionaries to obtain freedom. He joined HSRA (Hindustan Socialist Republican Association) with a motive to plug fear into the hearts of the British regime. Rajguru is amongst those great personalities who sacrificed their lives for independence. In those days HSRA was working actively against the British. They were simultaneously spreading awareness among the people. They made Britishers notice the growing domestic uprising when they hand out the crucial blasts with attacks like in the Lahore Conspiracy Case and the bombing of the Central Assembly Hall, New Delhi. In October 1928, during the protest against the Simon Commission the British police lathi-charged the protestors, in which veteran leader Shri Lala Lajpat Rai got severely injured and due to the excessive beating, he died. This incident induced revenge in the hearts of the revolutionaries. On December 18th, 1928, planned revenge was implemented for the assassination of the Deputy Superintendent of Police (J.P. Saunders) in Ferozepur, Lahore. Shivaram Rajguru, Sukhdev Thapar, along with the legendary Shaheed Bhagat Singh attacked J.P. Saunders. After that Rajguru went into hiding and took shelter in the house of an RSS worker, Nagpur he met Dr. K. B. Hedgewar. However, Shivaram got arrested. Bhagat Singh, Shivaram Rajguru, and Sukhdev Thapar were investigated and sentenced to death. On 23rd March 1931, the three brave revolutionaries were hanged, and their bodies were cremated on the banks of the River Sutlej. Rajguru became a martyr at the age of 23 years and will always be remembered in the golden pages of Indian history for his dedication and valor towards independence.
