Philosophy of Vivekanand and Tribute to martyrs of Kargil war

Bear in mind, my children, that only cowards and those who are weak commit sin and tell lies. The brave are always moral. Try to be moral, try to be brave, try to be sympathising.

The connection between Swami Vivekananda’s philosophy and the martyrs of the Kargil war is deep and profound, as both embody essential human values and ideals. It lies in their shared values of selflessness, courage, and love for the nation, unity, sacrifice, and service to humanity.  The Philosophy of Vivekananda and the sacrifice of the Kargil war martyrs both accentuate altruism, courage, love for the nation, and the idea of unity and service to others. Our brave Indian soldiers in the Kargil war exemplified the timeless principles advocated by Swami Vivekananda and served as a testament to the enduring spirit of humanity and dedication to a higher cause.

The philosophy of Vivekananda resonates with the sacrifices made by the brave soldiers in the Kargil war that reminds me of:

  1. Selfless Service: Swami Vivekananda emphasized the importance of selfless service to others as a means to spiritual growth and social harmony. The martyrs of the Kargil war epitomized this principle by risking and sacrificing their lives for the greater good of their country. Their selflessness transcended personal interests, showing a strong commitment to the welfare of the nation and its people. They valiantly exemplified this principle by putting the nation’s welfare above their own lives, demonstrating an unwavering commitment to protecting the country.
  2. Courage and Fearlessness: Vivekananda’s teachings emphasized the development of inner strength and fearlessness. The soldiers who fought in the Kargil war displayed immense courage in the face of adversity on the battlefield, facing challenging and life-threatening situations with resilience. Despite being in challenging and life-threatening situations, they stood firm and resolute, upholding their duty with valor and determination.
  3. Love for the Nation: Swami Vivekananda spoke passionately about the love for one’s country and its people. The martyrs of the Kargil war embodied this love by their actions on the battlefield by making the ultimate sacrifice, laying down their lives to defend the sovereignty and integrity of Mother India. Their dedication to safeguarding the nation’s sovereignty and protecting its citizens demonstrated an immense sense of patriotism and devotion to the land they called home.
  4. Unity and Brotherhood: Vivekananda’s teachings emphasized the idea of universal brotherhood and the unity of all religions. In the Kargil war, soldiers from diverse backgrounds, castes, and regions came together, united by a common purpose and goal, reinforcing the spirit of unity and brotherhood.. This unity was instrumental in their ability to face the challenges and adversities as a cohesive force.
  5. Sacrifice and Renunciation: Vivekananda stressed the significance of sacrifice and renunciation in the pursuit of higher ideals. The martyrs of the Kargil war embodied this spirit of sacrifice by giving up their personal comforts and safety, willingly facing danger, and ultimately sacrificing their lives for the sake of the nation.
  6. Service to Humanity: Swami Vivekananda believed in the service of humanity as a form of worship. The soldiers’ service during the Kargil war extended beyond their call of duty, as they were committed to protecting civilians and ensuring their safety during the conflict.
